PostgreSQL Consultant

OmniTI is looking for a PostgreSQL Consultant to help us grow our team!

Our software engineers focus on helping clients achieve their organizational objectives by bringing a mix of creative thinking and solid engineering principles to their problems. You'll join a team of highly collaborative engineers focused on continual improvement to the systems and process we work with.

About The Job

As a PostgreSQL consultant, you'll be expected to work with minimal supervision, working directly onsite with our clients, though you'll have the backing of an elite team of software engineers that can help you with all parts of the technology stack. Specifically, we’re looking for someone who has provided expertise in a hands on manner with all aspects of Postgres systems, both operationally and at the SQL level. In addition, experience with development tooling and operating systems will be extremely useful in this role.

You must be able to travel and work onsite at customer locations as well as remotely from your home. Access to a reliable high-speed Internet connection is required. You must be legally eligible to work in the US.

If you contribute to an open source project, write a blog, or are involved in technology in some other way, we would love to hear about it when you apply!

About You:

  • You like working with a team, knowing that efficiency and thoroughness trade-offs happen every day
  • You don't mind hacking stored procedures and you'll work with ORM queries when you need to
  • You crave collaboration with application developers and operations alike
  • You think SQL is a great tool for answering questions but aren't afraid to use grep/awk/sed to bend data when you need to
  • You don't believe that all data has the same requirements of consistency, availability, and partition-tolerance

Requirements & Education

  • Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of database systems including PostgreSQL and one of the following (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL)
  • Experience tuning database processes and queries both physically and logically
  • Experience with Relational and Dimensional Modeling
  • Experience with data transformation and conversion strategies between databases
  • Experience with database partitioning strategies on various databases
  • Experience with OLTP, data warehousing and operational data stores and concepts
  • Experience with AWS, RDS, and Aurora
  • Operating System management experience on Unix/Linux style systems
  • Detail oriented with the ability to focus and meet deadlines
  • Strong customer interface skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with customers and other team members
  • Willingness to travel often and work onsite at customer locations

We offer a discretionary PTO policy, health insurance, gym reimbursement, generous 401K and Roth matching, the opportunity for a bonus and best of all, the chance to work at a company that includes a diverse team of experts, run the way you wish people would run companies.

Staff Thoughts

This is a great place to be exposed to a wide variety of technologies and to be mentored by some of the brightest minds in the business. Knowledge is shared openly, and the amount is limited only by your ability to absorb it.

Where else can you work with people from whose books you learned to program.
