We’re proud of the team of engineers that we surround ourselves with and we thought you’d like to meet them too. Today, we’re featuring Payal Singh, DBA.
Hi Payal! Where did you learn how to do what you do? And/or what jobs led you to OmniTI?
As a research assistant in my master program, I worked on the visualization aspect of a project that heavily used Postgres. And when I got to know OmniTI’s favorite database is postgres too, I thought it would be a perfect match for my skills and interests.
What is the most interesting project you have ever worked on? And/or what’s been your favorite project you’ve ever worked on?
I like automating things, and so my favorite projects are ones requiring postgres provisioning and automation. Doesn’t matter which aspect of database administration it is - upgrades, replication, failover, installation, backups, restores… I have enjoyed automating each one of these.
What are some of the events in your life that made you who you are?
Moving halfway across the globe would be right on top of the list. Aside from that, working at OmniTI has taught me a lot - technically, professionally and socially.
If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
Sustainable living. Reduce use of plastic bags, paper towels. Move towards reusable products that are good for the environment.
What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
Justin Bieber’s latest album is annoyingly catchy!
What’s the best and worst piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Best - Never hesitate to share knowledge
Worst - Cross country road trip can be done within 2 weeks.
What makes a good life?
Being satisfied with who you are, and improving yourself if you aren’t. And of course, having people you love around you.
If your childhood had a smell, what would it be?
Fresh mangos
What stat for your life would you most like to see?
Number of programming languages mastered.
