Last week OmniTI took part in the inaugural DevOpsDays DC event, taking place at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria, Virginia. This event was aimed at bringing together a diverse audience of professionals and industry leaders from both public and private sectors who are looking to adopt DevOps practices and principles, and it proved to be a huge success.
DevOpsDays events are organized in a decentralized manner designed to encourage local groups to collaborate and bring events to the city of interest. Once plans to bring the event to D.C. (practically in our backyard) started to form, we knew we had to be a part of it. OmniTI CEO Robert Treat became one of the initial D.C. committee members working to organize the event, select the speakers, and make sure the conference itself ran smoothly. Additionally, OmniTI VP Leon Fayer was one of the event speakers, leading off the Ignite talks with his take on common mis-representations of “DevOps”.
Overall, the conference was an overwhelming success. The venue provided by USPTO was a great place to host a variety of mini events during the conference. The talks catered to a wide range of audiences, from security experts to performance enthusiasts to process gurus, providing both industry takes on DevOps philosophy and practical tips on implementing processes within attendees own organizations. The event also included an Open Spaces section covering a wide array of topics sparking additional conversations, aimed at helping with practical problems companies were facing.
DevOpsDays is slated to return to D.C. next year and we are already excited to be part of it again!
