Graham Knop, Web Engineer and Mark Fowler, Web Architect at OmniTI To Speak at YAPC::NA 2012

On Friday, June 15 at the YAPC::NA Perl conference, Graham Knop will talk about The Lacuna Expanse, the multiplayer video game written in Perl. He'll discuss how and why it was built (some Perl internals), and tell attendees about Lacuna's achievements. And, he may unveil a big surprise!

Graham helped to architect this popular game, where players compete or play with thousands to build empires, fight off spies and form alliances in this region of space.

Mark Fowler's talk, Exceptional Exceptions, scheduled for Thursday, June 14 is a review of the current state of exception handling in Perl. He'll cover the concept of exceptions and exception flow control in Perl, explain the differences between eval, Try::Tiny and TryCatch and how these address problems with older perls, and introduce his Err exception class.

YAPC conferences are hosted each year on five different continents. For more information on YAPC::NA, please see yapcna.org.
