Rasmus Lerdorf Founder of PHP; Developer, WePay

Rasmus Lerdorf is known for having gotten the PHP project off the ground in 1995 and has contributed to a number of other open source projects over the years. He is currently a developer at WePay. He was born in Greenland, grew up in Denmark and Canada and has a Systems Design engineering degree from the University of Waterloo.

There has been a lot of interest in PHP performance lately, spurred by Facebook's HipHop PHP announcement in February. Most people don't know how fast their site is and will make uninformed architecture decisions or spend time optimizing the wrong things based mostly on myths and innuendo.
