Rich has been involved in the Apache Web Server project for about ten years, working on the documentation, and doing end-user support on mailing lists and IRC. He has spoken at just about every ApacheCon, as well as other conferences around the USA and the world. Additionally, Rich is an author of many Perl modules, and is a participant on a number of other open source projects.
His books include Apache Cookbook, Apache Administrator's Handbook, and The Definitive Guide to Apache mod_rewrite. He's also written a number of ebooks, such as What's New in Apache Web Server 2.2?, and has periodically written articles for Linux Magazine, and other publications. He is one of the voices of FeatherCast.
I was born in Kenya, and have an enduring love for Africa. Indeed, much of my interest in Open Source stems from the vast good that it can do in developing home-owned technology companies in the developing world. I live in Lexington, Kentucky, with my wife and our two kids. I enjoy dining at local restaurants, reading, and fine wines.
I'm deaf, but can hear using my amazing bionic ear.
I have an extensive Charles Dickens collection, including 27 copies of “A Christmas Carol.”
Every Sunday night we have poetry reading by the fire pit. Y'all come.
