Luke Welling ~ Web Architect

Originally from Australia, Luke is an author of the best-selling PHP and MySQL Web Development (Sams) and MySQL Tutorial (MySQL Press).

He has extensive experience as a consultant and trainer in web and open source technologies, and regularly speaks on these topics at various conferences around the world including OSCON, ZendCon, MySQLCon, PHPCon, OSDC, and LinuxTag.

Prior to joining OmniTI, Luke worked for web analytics company Hitwise.com; database vendor, MySQL AB; and as an independent consultant.

Luke is a keen eventer, so when he’s not working, he often can be found on horseback.

Personal Note

I love being part of the Internet industry. The constant flux and the feeling that change is the only constant is a great motivator and keeps things exciting, but outside work I find my excitement in more visceral ways. If trying to make JavaScript work in IE on a deadline no longer gives you enough of a thrill, try galloping a horse across country.

I moved from Australia with a wife, a dog, a cat, and a horse and live near Washington, DC.
