Personal Note

Currently, I live in Nottingham, MD with my wife, Nickee. I grew up in Florida, so I get to laugh at people here when they complain about “How hot it is today”.

I love soccer. I prefer to play it, though watching it is fun too. I don't really care who is playing. Really. I have a love for practically anything open source. My most enjoyable moments with open source is when I get to free someone from their captivity of the closed source giants.

For leisure, I enjoy reading; primarily technology, medical, and other non-fiction books. Though I have been branching out into some fiction. I also play EVE Online (when I have the spare free moment) and enjoy it's massive player driven market. Yes, I play the game to look at giant spreadsheets and graphs.

I have a passion for Education that I really can't explain. I want to help people learn. I want to find ways to make teaching better. I admire the Khan Academy and the way it is completely turning the education world upside down. I believe auto-didactic learning is the best way to learn something and aim to find ways to advance it with open source solutions. I run www.thenoteplace.com, a site for sharing my notes from Biology related courses. I am also working on an open collaboration project so that other people can share their notes, and I support open education for all.

I also collect fortune cookie papers that I find cool. I don't know why, it just seems like something fun to do. I'll share a some favorites of mine.

'Today is a disastrous day. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.'

'The greatest mistake a man can make is to be afraid of making one.'

'Don't get so caught up in the daily grind that you never find any time to enjoy yourself.'

'If you have no critics you'll likely have no success.'
